Section 718.112 gives you 90 days from taking office to finish the course and file the certificate.

How long your certificate lasts
A condo certificate is valid for seven years from the date of issuance, as long as you serve on the board without interruption. A gap in service breaks that continuity and requires recertifying on your return. Condo directors also owe one hour of continuing education each year on recent changes to the law, anchored to the anniversary of your certification.

Who is required to take this course?
Every newly elected or appointed condominium director in Florida. Section 718.112 of the Florida Statutes requires the educational course within 90 days of taking your seat, and you may complete it up to one year before your election.
How long does the course take?
Florida law sets the condominium curriculum at four hours. The course is self-paced, so you can stop at any point and your place is saved.
What is the written certification?
A separate signed form you give to your board secretary saying you have read your association's declaration, bylaws, articles, and written policies. Condominium directors need both: the signed form and the course.
How much does it cost?
You can take the introduction and the first module free, so you can see the course before you pay for it. The rest is $49, one time. There is no subscription.
How long is my certificate valid?
Seven years, as long as you serve without interruption. Under the conservative reading of the statute, a break in service resets the clock, so plan to recertify if you leave the board and return.
Is there continuing education after this?
Yes. Condominium directors complete one hour of continuing education each year covering recent changes to Florida's condominium law.
